Are we prejudiced?

I have something to confess. I went to watch Asia Cup match last year here where this incident took place. It was at the stadium; entry is free for all. I guess its a move to popularise the sport, and I could see that for every match, the stadium was jam-packed. This one was during the finals - India vs Korea. Me, Paro and her 2 friends went to see the match. We sat on those cement benches. We'd taken the Indian flag along with us and also made some pickets to encourage our team. Also, this was sometime after the bomb blasts at Hyderabad. So, there we are enjoying the match and having a good time. Suddenly, I hear cries of "Allah hu Akbar"! A bunch of guys sitting behind us were shouting it repeatedly. At once, (and I'm ashamed of myself) alarm bells rang in my head! OM MY GOD! What if they want to blow up this place?! What if ... ? Unthinkable questions came into my mind and I couldn't concentrate on cheering our team. The other girls were busy doing it, but my h...

Someone please do something about the "NEWS CHANNELS"!

One thing that I absolutely hate is people's lack of general knowledge and something that I abhor, detest, despise, and all the synonyms of hate thrown up by dictionary.com, is people's apathy to whatever is going on in the nation. I know, I have a lot of Ï-want-to-make-India-a-better-country nucleotides in my DNA, and my aforementioned feelings are just an extension of the same. I somehow managed to catch the Splitsvilla finale..... I didn't watch the entire show, yet I was interested in knowing who won in the end. I liked Varun till the moment he opened his mouth to say that Lal Bahadur Shastri was India's first president.... Can someone please send him to primary school? MTV people, please do the honours.  One of the factors attributing to people's lack of GK today can be ignominy on the part of Mumbai univ while setting up the syllabus. But then it is also the student's fault. I mean how difficult is it to just open TOI and go through wha...

@ tshhar.. I agree with you no contest .. the participation sadly wont be there thats evident from the response to the poll itself .. And not to sound derogatory or offensive guy .. but if we joined this for a cause,i.e to create awakening .. we should really give a second thought to the question "Are we ourselves awakened .. first ???" as i said nearly 40 contributors and 55 56 posts and relative to the number of posts and the members of the blog the comments interaction even more disheartening and discouraging.. that's sad .. sorry but i always keep things straight ... apologies to those who are offended or find this piece of thought rude.. siddharth alias descrying the shadows

Salaam Bombay errr... Mumbai!

Remember? As kids how we came to believe the story of a stork coming down at midnight and dropping in our little sister next to our Mom ? Well, remember the time when you have already been educated about the human angle in the process from the porn mags brought by the year down student at school, and later have this inconvenient moment of seeing a really agonized woman doing a labor scene in some DD1 movie along with your family? Years later,Remember the time when you yourself (The unsung sexologist of your college by then ) impart the same wisdom to your kid cousin in the hospital and share a smile with the refined, sensible adult community in the warmth of a shared secret? And the story goes on! . Pretence! . See, lemme be clear on my stand. I have no objection to kids being told the stork story rather than what-goes-where-to-make-a-baby thing , but with passing years isn’t someday the right day to clarify stuff around the dining table? Do we allow our kids to learn about the basic st...

"Bonding With God"

From my childhood I was Religious, but I never knew that basic steps of being religious. That Time for me being religious was to go to mandir, stand and fold our hands pray and that finishes the process of being religious. Then i grew up,i started getting know the real meaning of term being religious i.e was a "Bond With God" a faith,a trust on him.Though I am still not that perfect in all this but somewhere i knew that i had connection with God.I can feel hi presence around me.Today also am not that great devotee of his but than also i had a feeling that after all this God loves me,protects me. Bonding with God is a very integral part of somebodies life. Its a very deep part of ones life.It can never be expressed in words. As it was once said by my dear friend that feelings for God can never be expressed 100%,its beyond ones thought process. Today am 20 and nowI have started realizing what is the actual meaning of tuning with God.Though it will take another many years to discove...

Dumb Indians?

Some more thought on EDUCATION. This was originally written by me on my personal blog... but i think this will go very well in this arena too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The fundamental issue that India has and not easily solvable is average IQ being low. India's average IQ is 81, while that of most progressed countries is above 97. China surprisingly has an average IQ of 100. India being a truely democratic country, the government is represented by majority, and majority has an IQ below 70 (IQ distribution is vast in India). Hence you get a government elected by morons, representing morons, and full of morons. And since these morons govern justice system, education system, healthcare, you name it, a person with an engineering degree, or a doctor, or a lawyer from India on average has an IQ of 81 as well. While the requirements of bec...
