The Irresponsible Media

10 years back, we didn't have cable television. We were entertained by the humble Doordashan Channel, watching cartoons, a fixed number of 'good' programs on the TV..there were no hassles. Now the scene is completely different, you have a gazillion News,Cartoon and Movie channels to choose from.Variety is good, I don't complain. However it is apalling to look at the state of News channels on TV. You have the so called 'watchable' channels like NDTV or CNN IBN etc and there is a host of newbies like India TV, IBN 7 etc. which are a piece of crap.

-BREAKING NEWS : Rani Mukherji has broken her thumb (omg thats national crisis), Shahid Kapur and Vidya Balan were seen talking!, Is Riteish Deshmukh gay? Then there's one show where a Baba with a laptop tells you some 'mantras' for your cold, or your success in the board exams. This does happen, I'm sure all you of you tune into these channels for some entertainment too!

Take The Aarushi Murder Case, IBN 7 has already come up with the verdict, why does the CBI even bother to investigate then? News channels are cashing in on this so called 'biggest murder mystery ever'. If they run out of news on Aarushi or the Nuke Deal or false sting operations, then guess what! Rakhi Sawant comes in. This happens (sadly) on every single news channel, unfortunate but true. Everything is blown out of proportion, Everything is BREAKING NEWS!! Well, I'm really not aware of the solution to this problem as of now but I thought its worth mentioning it here.

Another thing that has become a habit among all the news channels (or atleast most of them) is blaming and incessently criticising the Government for everything that happens. Aren't we as a society to blame on what's happening around us? have we forgotten the government is 'us' and not a group of people who've descended from the heavens above? Wake up!

Well, thats all for now. Your views on this topic are welcome!

The crap channels you talk about,
when they show some program
they will shout in your ears
"Kya aapke ghar main beti hai
Kya aap..............
Dekhiye hamari report..."
I mean the way they shout, the voice echoes
and red and black writings
mann karta hai, i should smash that tv on his head.[Buts its only a year old, so i control :(]
hehehe

And youu are right,we are to be blamed as a society. We watch these channels, so they make money.
They show what is monetary feasible.Question is why people [like Akriti & ankeita :P ] watch such shows or channels which have so much crap in it???

Hey nice article..Thogh m coming from media i have the same opinion about so called 'breaking news' of some news channels...Amitabh ki aankho me aansu kyon aaye!!!!... I mean wt is this!!!

But somehow itz a 2way run...Channels show this because somehow ppl like 2 see this. though viewers say dt I hate this crap but at other side a curiosity to know the fact plays in their mind n they watch the show...here it is like a circle..channels show n ppl see..ppl see channels show....But yes I agree it is really sad 2 see the standard of news some channels are serving...Being a media prfsnl many times I have been asked 2 comment on this...n ppl directly point out on ppl like me jus coz m a part of this profession but I do agree News should look like 'news'
ya. gud article...i agree with wat u have said...who cares abt....rakhi getting married?????there are lots of small kids..who dont get to eat..y are these ppl wasting lots of time on...showing crap on tv...y cant they expose....all the illegal activities..of most of the mp's and mla's..they are afraid cuz they have also done some illegal activities and they need protection...god save this country...

Cutting people off isn’t strength—It is a trauma response

Your ability to cut people off and self-isolate is not a skill you should be proud of—It is a trauma response Cutting people off and self-isolating may feel like a protective shield, but it is often rooted in unresolved or unhealed trauma and an inability to depend on others. While these behaviors seem like self-preservation, they end up reinforcing isolation and blocking meaningful connections. Confronting these patterns, seeking therapy, and nurturing supportive relationships can help break this unhealthy cycle. Plus, a simple act like planting a jasmine plant can symbolise the start of your journey towards emotional healing. Why do we cut people off and isolate? If you’re someone who prides themselves on “cutting people off” or keeping a tight circle, you might believe it’s a skill—a way to protect yourself from betrayal, hurt, or unnecessary drama. I get it. I’ve been there, too. But here’s the thing: this ability to isolate yourself is not as empowering as it may seem. In fact, i...

Trail of Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab – A joke!

Who do you trial? Who does this? What is this all about? Is this playing with justice or is it just a mockery of the whole thing? Well, there are lots of questions and I find very less of answers to all these. Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab is the only survivor from the pack of Pakistani terrorists who attacked Mumbai on November 26, 2008 (better known as 26/11). He was captured while he was on a rampage killing scores of people and injuring hundreds, on that dreadful night in Mumbai. There was a lot of fuss in the last few months about him being a Pakistani or his age to be prosecuted in an adult court or with his captivity. Recently, the long awaited trial started and everyone is waiting to see what the court will decide on his fate. Ridiculous! What is there to decide? Hang him!! Simple… Well, I do not want to hang him without getting all the information from him and only after proving that the attackers were all from Pakistan and the whole incident was built up by the Pakistani Army, Go...

Dumb Indians?

Some more thought on EDUCATION. This was originally written by me on my personal blog... but i think this will go very well in this arena too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The fundamental issue that India has and not easily solvable is average IQ being low. India's average IQ is 81, while that of most progressed countries is above 97. China surprisingly has an average IQ of 100. India being a truely democratic country, the government is represented by majority, and majority has an IQ below 70 (IQ distribution is vast in India). Hence you get a government elected by morons, representing morons, and full of morons. And since these morons govern justice system, education system, healthcare, you name it, a person with an engineering degree, or a doctor, or a lawyer from India on average has an IQ of 81 as well. While the requirements of bec...
