Best vastu tips for attracting money & career growth

Ever feel like money just slips through your fingers no matter how hard you work? Or that your career growth has hit a plateau? The answer might lie in the energy of your space! Vastu Shastra, the ancient Indian science of architecture, can help attract wealth and success by aligning your home and office with positive energy. In this guide, I will share the best Vastu tips for financial abundance and productivity, with practical steps you can start today. Let us unlock the secrets to a prosperous life!

What is Vastu Shastra and how does it influence wealth?

Vastu Shastra is an ancient Indian practice that harmonizes energy in living and working spaces to promote health, wealth, and prosperity. It is based on directional alignments and the five elements—earth, water, fire, air, and space to create an environment that supports success.

The science behind vastu and money

The placement of rooms, furniture, and objects influences the flow of positive energy, known as prana. When prana flows freely, it creates abundance, but when blocked, it can cause financial struggles.

Best Vastu Tips for Attracting Money & Career Growth

A real-life case study

Take Anil Sharma, a struggling entrepreneur. His business wasn’t taking off despite his efforts. A Vastu expert found that his office was facing southwest, a direction that hinders growth. After shifting his workspace to the northeast and placing a mirror to reflect his cash counter, his business started booming within months.

Fact: A 2019 survey by the Indian Institute of Vastu found that 78% of people who made Vastu changes saw improvements in their finances within six months.

Is your main entrance blocking financial opportunities?

Your entrance is the gateway to wealth energy. If it is cluttered, misaligned, or facing the wrong direction, it can block financial opportunities. Always plant fresh seasonal flowering plants near the property enterance.

Common mistakes people make

❌ Blocked entrance: Shoes, garbage bins, or obstacles near the door create negative energy.
❌ Wrong direction: A south-facing entrance can lead to instability.
❌ Damaged doors: Broken handles or squeaky doors hinder prosperity.

Quick fixes

✅ Keep the entrance well-lit and clutter-free.
✅ Place a nameplate with gold or silver accents for wealth attraction.
✅ A red doormat can activate positive energy flow.

3. Which directions influence money flow in your home?

According to Vastu, each direction affects different aspects of wealth and success.

North, East, and Northeast – The wealth zones

  • North (ruled by Lord Kuber) enhances financial growth.

  • East attracts new opportunities and career success.

  • Northeast strengthens decision-making power.

South and Southwest – The stability zones

  • South governs stability and investments.

  • Southwest is ideal for storing wealth and valuables.

Tip: Placing a green jade plant in the northeast enhances cash flow!

4. Are you sleeping in a money-draining zone?

Believe it or not, your bedroom placement can impact your finances.

Vastu-approved bedroom placement

✔ Southwest direction – Ensures financial stability.
✔ Head towards the south while sleeping – Promotes restful sleep and prosperity.

Bedroom vastu mistakes to avoid

❌ Avoid mirrors in front of the bed – They reflect negative energy.
❌ No beams over the bed – They create financial pressure.

Real Story: My friend struggled with savings until she moved her bed to the southwest and added a yellow bedsheet (symbolizing wealth). Within weeks, her expenses reduced, and she started saving more!

Is your office or workspace designed for success?

Your workspace layout can influence productivity and financial gains.

Best office setup according to Vastu

✔ Sit facing the north or east – These directions bring prosperity.
✔ Use wooden desks – They absorb and channel positive energy.
✔ Keep a solid wall behind your chair – It symbolizes strong financial backing.

Colours that boost productivity

  • Green: Growth and creativity

  • Blue: Stability and focus

  • Gold or Yellow: Wealth and success

How Can You Design a Workspace Around Root, Solar Plexus and Third Eye themes?

A workspace can support different parts of your working life, and sometimes the most useful way to understand those parts is through a symbolic framework. The Root, Solar Plexus and Third Eye chakras offer one such framework. They can be used as reflective ideas rather than medical or scientific claims: the Root can represent stability, the Solar Plexus can represent confidence and action, and the Third Eye can represent clarity and vision.

For an entrepreneur, these three themes create a surprisingly practical question: Does your workspace help you feel grounded enough to work, confident enough to act and clear enough to decide?

Jahnvi, one of my clients, came to understand this through a very ordinary Monday morning. She had been working from a small room at home while building her consulting practice, and she was frustrated because she felt as though she was constantly busy without making enough progress. Her desk was beside a window, her files were stacked on the floor, and she had a habit of carrying unfinished work from one corner of the room to another.

When I asked her what she wanted her workspace to help her feel, she laughed and said, “I want to stop feeling as though my business is going to collapse every time I open my laptop.”

That answer said more than a furniture catalogue ever could.

Jahnvi did not need a dramatic makeover. She needed three things that corresponded closely with the three symbolic themes.

She needed grounding, because her workspace felt temporary. She needed confidence, because she was hesitating over decisions she already knew she needed to make. She also needed clarity, because too many unfinished ideas were competing for her attention.

The Root, Solar Plexus and Third Eye framework gave her a simple way to separate those problems.

Could the Root theme help create a sense of stability?

The Root is traditionally associated with grounding, security and a sense of being supported. In a workspace, those ideas can be translated into very practical choices.

Start with the physical foundation.

A stable chair, a desk that does not wobble, sensible storage, clear walking space and reliable lighting may sound almost too ordinary to mention. Yet these are the things you interact with repeatedly. If your chair rocks every time you move, if your desk shakes when you type or if your paperwork has nowhere to go, the room is constantly asking you to compensate for poor design.

Grounding can also come through materials and visual weight. Wood, natural textures, earthy colours and sturdy furniture can create a feeling of physical solidity. You do not need to turn the office into a rustic retreat. Even a wooden tray, a textured rug or a simple natural material can introduce warmth.

For Jahnvi, the biggest change was giving important documents a permanent home. She bought a simple filing unit and moved her business records away from the floor. The change was almost embarrassingly practical.

Yet she noticed it immediately.

She no longer began the day by looking at unfinished paperwork.

That gave her a different starting point.

A Root-inspired workspace can therefore ask questions such as: Where do my important things live? What makes this room feel physically stable? What can I stop worrying about because I have given it a proper place?

These are useful questions whether or not you believe in chakras.

What could the Solar Plexus theme mean for an entrepreneur?

The Solar Plexus is often associated in chakra traditions with personal power, confidence, will and action. For an entrepreneur, those ideas have an obvious connection with decision-making.

Running a business requires repeated acts of choice. You decide what to sell, whom to serve, what to decline, when to negotiate, where to invest and which opportunity deserves your attention. Confidence does not mean feeling certain all the time. It means being willing to make a considered decision without needing perfect certainty.

Your workspace can reinforce that behaviour by giving important decisions a proper place.

Perhaps you have a planning board where your quarterly priorities remain visible. Perhaps you keep your business numbers accessible instead of hiding them in a folder you rarely open. Perhaps you reserve part of your desk for strategic work rather than allowing it to become a permanent pile of administrative tasks.

You can also introduce visual cues that represent competence without turning the room into a motivational poster collection.

A certificate that genuinely matters to you, a photograph from a significant professional achievement or a piece of work you are proud of can remind you of evidence you already possess.

Jahnvi had one such reminder.

She had won an important client several years earlier but had stored the thank-you letter inside a drawer because she thought keeping it visible would seem self-important. During the workspace redesign, she placed it in a simple frame near her planning area.

“It sounds silly,” she told me, “but I had forgotten that I had already done the thing I keep telling myself I am not ready to do.”

That was not a supernatural transformation.

It was a memory made visible.

The Solar Plexus theme can therefore become a prompt to ask: What evidence of my capability deserves a place in this room, and what decision am I avoiding because I am waiting to feel completely ready?

Could the Third Eye theme help create space for clearer thinking?

The Third Eye is traditionally associated with intuition, perception, insight and vision. In business language, these ideas can be translated into strategic thinking.

An entrepreneur needs periods in which they are not responding to the next email or completing the next task. They need time to notice patterns, question assumptions and imagine what the business could become.

That requires visual and mental breathing space.

A Third Eye-inspired workspace might therefore include a clear planning area, a comfortable chair away from the main screen, a notebook for long-term ideas or a wall where a small number of meaningful goals remain visible.

The purpose is not to make intuition scientifically measurable.

It is to give thinking a place.

Jahnvi had previously covered one wall with reminders of everything she wanted to accomplish. She had a vision board, a calendar, several motivational notes and a list of courses she hoped to take. She thought the wall was helping her stay ambitious.

Instead, it made her feel behind.

So she removed most of it.

She kept three things: her annual business goal, a note about the kind of clients she wanted to serve and one sentence describing how she wanted her working life to feel.

The wall became quieter.

She found that she could look at it without immediately feeling that she had failed to accomplish something.

That is an important lesson for any entrepreneur. Clarity does not always come from adding more information. Sometimes it comes from deciding which information deserves to remain visible.

How can the three themes work together?

The three themes can be treated as a simple design check rather than three separate decorating projects.

ThemeSymbolic qualityPractical workspace expression
RootStability and securityStrong furniture, organised storage, clear movement
Solar PlexusConfidence and actionVisible priorities, business information, meaningful achievements
Third EyeClarity and visionPlanning space, fewer distractions, room for reflection

Imagine arriving at your workspace in the morning.

The Root asks whether the room feels stable enough for you to settle. The Solar Plexus asks whether the space supports decisive action rather than endless hesitation. The Third Eye asks whether there is enough quiet and clarity for you to see beyond today's urgent tasks.

Together, they create a useful rhythm.

First, ground yourself. Then act. Then step back and see.

Of course, real working life does not follow such a neat sequence. Some days require immediate action. On others, you may need to spend hours thinking before making one important decision. The framework is simply a way of noticing which quality may be missing from your environment.

Could your workspace be strong in one area and weak in another?

You might have an exceptionally organised office that feels sterile and gives you no room for creative thought. You might have an inspiring room filled with vision boards but no sensible storage for invoices and client documents. You might have an impressive desk and beautiful furniture but still feel hesitant every time you need to make a difficult decision.

That is why spatial alignment should not be reduced to appearance.

A workspace can look successful and still feel exhausting.

Jahnvi's final change was perhaps the simplest. She placed a small plant beside her desk and began opening the curtains before starting work. She did not believe the plant would bring clients through the door. She liked having something living in the room, and the morning light helped the space feel less enclosed.

She also created one rule for herself: important decisions would be made at the planning area, not while standing in the kitchen with her phone in one hand and a cup of tea in the other.

That rule turned out to be more valuable than any decorative change.

It gave decisions a place.

And when decisions have a place, they are less likely to be made hurriedly between unrelated tasks.

The Root, Solar Plexus and Third Eye framework ultimately points towards something very human. Entrepreneurs need to feel safe enough to settle, confident enough to act and clear enough to imagine what comes next. A workspace cannot guarantee those feelings, but it can create conditions that support them.

You do not need to buy three new sets of objects or redesign your entire office according to a chakra chart. Begin by asking what is missing.

If you feel scattered, strengthen the foundation.

If you keep postponing decisions, create a space that supports action.

If you are constantly busy but cannot see where the business is going, create room for reflection.

Your environment does not have to become a shrine to productivity. It simply needs to become honest about the kind of work, leadership and life you are trying to build.

Does India need communal parties?

I think, it was Tan's post on this blog itself, Republic Day Event, where this question was raised. My answer. YES. we need communal parties even in Independent, Secular India. Now let me take you, back to events before 1947. When India was a colony of the British Empire. The congress party, in its attempt to gain momentum for the independence movement, heavily used Hinduism, an example of which is the famous Ganesh Utsav held in Mumbai every year. Who complains? No one. But at that time, due to various policies of the congress, Muslims started feeling alienated. Jinnah, in these times, got stubborn over the need of Pakistan and he did find a lot of supporters. Congress, up till late 1940's never got bothered by it. And why should we? Who complains? No one. But there were repercussions. The way people were butchered and slaughtered during that brief time when India got partitioned, was even worse than a civil war scenario. All in the name of religion. And there indeed was cr...

Politics - A profession

Note: This article was originally published on 18 March 2009, 01:10 on this blog and has been thoughtfully revised on 30 January 2026, 12:00 noon to reflect fresh insights and updated context. This post is loosely inspired by the  TATA Tea a d  where this politician goes to ask for votes and a voter asks him for his qualification and work experience the the important 'job' that he is embarking upon. The politician laughs at the voter, asking him what job is the voter referring to. The voter responds, "The job to run the country". Do politicians in other countries view politics as a profession? Or is politics viewed similarly across international boundaries? Epitome of equality

First of all This is not to demean any religion.. I am a Hindu by birth, but yes I respect all religions .I offer my daily prayers , fast on holy days , but there was something that was disturbing me . God as per me was a Friend, someone who was by my side always , someone who was a dear friend , but this is not what everyone else thought , for others he was the Judge who gives his verdict always and punishes anyone and everyone . Walk into any temple and you would see , if you have money , you will be treated in a way as if you are the ONLY disciple of the God . I have had too many experiences where I was treated as a second class citizen in the temple . Why? Well I could not afford giving thousands as donation. This is not how it should be , God looks at each one of us with the same divinity .As I mentioned God for me is a friend, so tell me, do we chose friends based on their bank balances? Do we give our verdict on them ? then how can God do it? I know many of us would ...
