A Feast of Vultures: The Hidden Business of Democracy in India - Josy Joseph - Book Review

Josy Joseph is a well known and experienced investigative journalist. He brings in his usual flair of reportage to pen a book about democracy in India and how it is being mocked upon by several people in power. For selfish gains of few, World's largest democracy has often been held, hostage. More of then not a large section of the population is made to suffer severely so that a bunch of people make money and enjoy their lives. In this backdrop, I loved the way Josy Joseph highlights the prevalent issues of the day. Issues which are routinely swept under the carpet. Issues which people are never told about. But they impact lives of all. Take the case of Jet Airways or the Jindals, as showcased in the book, it is all there in public yet so divorced from the public discourse.  It is not meant for a specific audience but for all of us. Rarely do we see a book which is penned with such candor and clarity. It just doesn't dwell into the state of businesses in modern India b

Blogger Interview - 11 Preeti Chauhan

Aster Emergency App can bring in a big difference by saving lives

The golden hour sounds like a simple term but in actuality is a complex issue for the Medical minds. It refers to that one hour of emergency when a person is dying but can be saved. It's that critical straw which if clutched properly can save a human life.  I have been following up on quite of health-related innovations, from millets to the super oil so was interested to know more about an innovation to address this very important issue. That it comes from Aster Health, a very old Kerala-based healthcare provider made it more interesting to follow. Unveiling a novel and unique concept, The “Aster Emergency App” was launched on May 25, 2017 at Hotel ITC Maurya, New Delhi  by Padma Shree Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder Chairman & Managing Director of Aster MD Healthcare. Envisioning a leap in Emergency Care by combining health and technology, the Aster Emergency App provides a real-time interface between the patient in emergency and a GPS-enabled Aster ‘Responder’. This brings

The California Boulevard - Sector 29, Gurgaon/Gurugram

It might be a difficult to locate as The California Boulevard does not really fall in the usual Sector 29 Market but is a little far away. To remember its location easily, just head to the market right behind the IFFCO Chowk Metro Station.  I simply love the Californian ambiance and the way the owners have brought in a piece of America into Gurgaon. They have even put up a Harley outside the place and made a passage with the Stars of fame thing. The pictures that are hung on the wall remind you of Hollywood and so does the tram car Bar that has been set up. The first TCB was set up in Rajouri Garden in New Delhi and the owners replicated their success in Gurgaon some time ago. The place is quite famous and is known for its food, which has taken inspiration from across the Globe. Indeed, with its interiors and feel, you would think of it as an American Diner.  Drinks Signature Cocktails - Ordered

Meal-O-Drama Rajouri Garden, Delhi

At Najafgarh Road, bang opposite the BK Dutta Market, a new  Bistro has opened doors, with an interesting name - Meal-O-Drama. (I love the way it sounds.) Pic courtesy - MealODrama I met Rahul Sawhney, the humble owner of the place, whose family owns automobile dealerships across Delhi NCR. So obviously my next question was about his shift to hospitality. "It's my passion." he beams as he showed me around the place. "I have been around the Delhi party and food scene for long," he continues, "I felt that the places we have are too loud or too dim. I wanted to create a comfortable place where friends and family can sit around and enjoy their food."  Pic Courtsey - MealODrama Indeed, this is a first of its kind Modern Bistro in Rajouri Garden with the most beautiful outdoor and the international Vibes.
