Jab They Met

The Protagonist of this post are two people. A girl named "Ms. B'ful hair" and a guy named "Mr. Ghaint". They were best of friends. Their frequency matched to an extent that they themselves were amused. Truth being, they were both "so- not- ordinary" on their own selves. So different and yet so similar, so apart and yet so close. The only constraint being they lived 250 kms apart. The distance is not very long, but it matters to those who cant see each other everyday for the far-ness does restrain them. They had met many times before, but this time was something important and special. Ghaint's birthday. And also, the time when they were both getting closer emotionally, bonding more than friends, realizing their attachment reaching peaks. They planned for the day for over more than a month. They talked and talked about it. They would do this and they would do that, they would go and they would wander there, they would shop, they would have lunch to...

I would say no to 33% to ladies

MP, MLA, Minister, Chief Minister and Prime minister are the supreme posts of the democratic India that directly influence the well being of the people. Even a small mistake by them may make the people to suffer for generations. At the moment, majority of ladies are not exposed independently to face the real world. They are dependent and shielded. This makes their general personality poor and their knowledge limited. Now tell me, do you think it is worth taking a risk of exposing ladies with substandard qualities directly to supreme posts. Don’t you think they are most prone to make wrong decisions because of lack of exposure? And as I said early you know how much these wrong decision may affect people. This world belongs to every living creature. No one can be neglected. Ladies should actively take part in politics. No doubt about it. But to do that, we need to create good environment for them to accumulate the qualities required to acquire the top position in politics. If you want t...

Am I a racist?

Recently I read a long story written by a fellow blogger about how she is racially abused by foreigners only because she is an Indian. She said she lived in various countries and went on to accuse Australia , Canada , US, UK and Israel as racist countries. I would like to disagree here because I feel racism is not present in certain countries or races, instead it is omnipresent. Yes. I feel almost each and every person in this world has a bit of racial intentions. Let me explain. What is racism? Leaving away the formal definition of racial biases etc, let us asses it from a psychological background. Every human being in this world wants to be better than others. For example, we are participating in Indiblogger of the month because we want to be better than other bloggers . We are participating in a running race, because we want to be better than other participants. In this world all the successes and resultant happiness is determined comparatively. Based on various reasons, we devel...

Barley Soup

I don't know where you are located, but I can tell you that here in New England, the weather has been cool.  Cool enough to crave a warm soup to have after work.  One of my favorite soups is oh so simple to make and can use what ever veggies you have on hand.  My grandparents used to make this soup with some beef and some marrow bones to add flavor. It's hearty without being over bearing, it's a good in between season soup. You can use beef stock, vegetable stock or chicken stock.   Barley Soup 2 carrots sliced and diced 1 stalk celery sliced and diced 1 medium onion sliced and diced 1 small can chopped tomatoes or stewed tomatoes, up to you if you want to drain the liquid. 1-2 cups of other veggies-corn, peas, broccoli, asparagus-optional 1-2 qts broth of choice 1 cup pearl barley, rinsed Olive Oil salt, pepper, bay leaf. Directions Take a stock pot, put a glug of olive oil in the bottom of the pan and toss in your carrots, celery, and onions. L...

A talk on Teenage Pregnancy

Pregnancy is a very pure word or it can be stated as a very serene feeling within, for women. But when this word combines with teenage and comes as teenage pregnancy it tends to reflect lots of complications. It showcases difficulties, criticisms, and an eye of losing character by people. Unfortunately all these difficulties, criticisms has to be faced by women only (maximum number of cases). The environment we live is quite conservative and orthodox. Therefore people act accordingly and it is to some extend reasonable reactions on issues like this. From decades we all have the mindset, that women can only have a child when she is married and the trend still follows. And maybe it is a very justifying trend and that women are following. But time changes and as it is said, ‘Change is the essence of life’. Does this change of teenage pregnancy is really an essence? Do people see it with the same respect as comparison to a married pregnancy? And all of us know that answer t...

Pink Chaddi doesnt suit me

I never support separatists for their narrow minded ideologies and the barbarian methods they use to implement it. Particularly when they beat women, going to pub, I felt it is totally inhuman. I remember reading 'pub going broad/ forward women'. I cant call a woman broad minded or forward just because she goes to pub. Being forward is different and it takes a lot. Though I severely condemn the act of beating women who goes to pub, I cant support them to get the freedom to go to pub as the cause is not noble.(But the episode of sending pink chaddi is very funny). I am not particularly against pub going ladies but I wouldn’t approve of few people who pretend to follow western culture because they think westerners are well mannered and their culture is superior to Indian culture. I have been with lots of western friends and I love and cherish their culture but we need to understand every culture by its pros and cons. What is a culture? When human race begun to live in groups, the...

Law on arresting a woman in India

An incident took place in Pune - a young girl was attacked by a man posing as a plain clothes officer; he asked her to come to the police station when she & her male friend did not have a driver's  license to show. He sent the boy off to get his license and asked the girl to accompany him to the police station. Instead he took her to an isolated area where the horrendous crime was committed. The law [which most of us are not aware of] clearly states that between 6 PM and 6 AM (from sunset until sunrise), a woman has the right to REFUSE to go to the Police Station/Jail, even if an arrest warrant has been issued against her. It is a procedural issue that a woman can be arrested between 6 PM and 6 AM, if and ONLY if she is arrested by a woman officer and taken to an ALL WOMEN Police Station/Jail. And if she is arrested by a male officer, it has to be proven that a woman officer was on duty at the time of arrest. Note: Read National Human Rights Commission Report for elaborate ...

Is a product’s success all about marketing????

I have always wondered about how companies decide when to launch a product... How they decide that the market needs that product etc? And after all that analysis how come many products end up flopping? I am in touch with the tech sector and so will refer to it for examples. Let’s take Windows Vista as an example... It was a failure.... I know many people will say that 24% of the world today uses Vista but that was because all the new models sold had only vista as an option...Microsoft stopped selling XP.... I’m sure the ppl at Microsoft must have done a great analysis as to why this would have happened....But I believe the major reason for the failure was marketing... Apple jumped on people’s inertia about changing from XP to vista and screwed up the image of vista badly… I don't think any OS is better than any other but Apple somehow managed to convince people that their products are much better so they get to even charge a premium price. And what bout Linux??...

Tourism In India

I'd been to the famous Sun temple at Konark sometime back. The place is beautiful and is frequented by tourists, both from India and from abroad. For it's maintenance the government charges an entry fee of Rs10 per person from our people while a foreigner has to pay 10$ for the same. And thats the price fixed for all other monuments across the country I believe. I'd been to the place some years back too.The place was swarming with foreign tourists then. They were happily touring the large precinct of the temple and clicking pictures. But this time, though there were lots of tourists from India,I found a decrease in the numbers of the foreign visitors. It was the time of the year when the famous Konark Dance festival was on.The festival draws many art and dance enthusiasts from across the globe. The crowd was still there, but then somebody who had seen the crowds before could easily note the decreased numbers. While having refreshments in a restaurant outside I got into a...
