Window Shopping For Loans hurts your credit score

Window shopping is taken very seriously by some shoppers when they visit markets or malls. This isn’t surprising when it comes without any costs attached. However, the same analogy does not apply everywhere and especially when you are in the market for a loan for your small business. Each window you make some inquiry ends up lowering your credit score and making you and your small business a little less creditworthy.

The impact of a clean credit history, a track record of timely repayments, and impeccable relationships with lenders could easily be offset by serial window shopping. The result is that you end up paying a higher interest rate than someone with a similar credit and risk profile as lenders have indeed started to consider your credit score not only for the initial sanctioning process but also to determine the rate of interest.

So how does casual scouting for loans result in higher costs?
When you approach multiple lenders for your loan in a ‘spray & pray’ strategy, each lender will pull up your credit score to know your credit profile and credit history. Each such ‘bureau pull’ by the banks and NBFCs brings your score down if that inquiry does not result in an actual loan. The reason why the application did not conclude into a loan is not relevant. You may have turned down the terms offered or postponed your borrowing decision, but still, this impacts your credit score. In addition to this, there is an inquiry section in the credit report that shows all loan inquiries made by you with any lender. This again leads to the creation of a poor perception of being credit hungry leading to an entirely avoidable pain.

The Problem
Online platforms for securing business loans have proliferated in recent times. These offer a convenient service for both lenders and small businesses in terms of loan origination. More often than not, these companies are actually doing you more harm than good – the moment you apply on their websites, they forward your application simultaneously to multiple banks and NBFCs in a Scattershot Strategy. This indiscriminate spreading of your loan application then leads to multiple pulls of your bureau report. Imagine the collateral damage done by this open broadcasting! Banks are also very wary of lending to someone whose bureau report shows multiple inquiries in the recent past. Another problem not necessarily relating to the cost of funding that arises is that multiple inquiries invite unnecessary queries from lenders, which increases your administrative costs and needlessly wastes your time.

The Solution
One solution to restrict these multiple credit inquiries is to get your own credit report because that does not impact your score. CIBIL provides you the facility to download your credit report for free once in each calendar year. However, many banks and NBFCs will still pull it themselves as they do not rely on reports provided by the borrowers.

At Loan Frame, we assist small businesses like yours in getting their own credit reports, which helps preserve their credit score. In addition to this, we NEVER broadcast an application. We expend a lot of effort in studying each application thoroughly including reviewing the financial records and bank statements. This helps us to understand the true merits of an application and know exactly which lender is best suited for an applicant’s business loan needs. Further, we undertake targeted inquiries with the borrower to know what kind of business loan will suit their requirements in the best manner. Our proprietary ‘LenderMatch’ algorithm logs and retrieves policies of multiple lenders across the country and is able to connect small business loan applicants to the right lender. This matching, combined with a rigorous process of hand-holding ensures that the documentation is up to the mark leads to a higher willingness by the lender to accept a credit score pulled by the applicant.

In this way, not only does the chance of success of small businesses go up, but they are also in complete control of their bureau score, which in turn leads to approved loans at reasonable cost.

Contact Loan Frame now for personalized advice on how to get the best interest rate either for your new loan or for refinancing your existing loan at a lower rate. We have solutions for small and medium businesses from all sectors and for all types of loans.

A tale of 1 country: Brothers in arms

I stand at my balcony and watch the unfortunate (no not unfortunate) events unfold 2 floors down. Dadi (grandmother) has fallen to the ground and is crying, my mother has a face of steel, its frozen into a blank stare; I know this state, I have seen it before, she is controlling herself showing a brave and proud wife to the world. She is helping dadi. Uncle keeps pointing past the gate and is shouting something at dada (grandfather). Dada has just locked the gate and is walking back to the house. Past the gate I can see a group of people all clad in white, surrounding something lying on the ground covered with a white cloth. My governess Shobhadi stands next to me holding me, afraid that I'll run downstairs into the scene unfolding. She and and the servants have been given strict orders that I can not be allowed downstairs. Dada thinks I do not understand what is happening, he thinks I cannot comprehend what is going on, but I do. The year is 19...

Trail of Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab – A joke!

Who do you trial? Who does this? What is this all about? Is this playing with justice or is it just a mockery of the whole thing? Well, there are lots of questions and I find very less of answers to all these. Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab is the only survivor from the pack of Pakistani terrorists who attacked Mumbai on November 26, 2008 (better known as 26/11). He was captured while he was on a rampage killing scores of people and injuring hundreds, on that dreadful night in Mumbai. There was a lot of fuss in the last few months about him being a Pakistani or his age to be prosecuted in an adult court or with his captivity. Recently, the long awaited trial started and everyone is waiting to see what the court will decide on his fate. Ridiculous! What is there to decide? Hang him!! Simple… Well, I do not want to hang him without getting all the information from him and only after proving that the attackers were all from Pakistan and the whole incident was built up by the Pakistani Army, Go...

Dumb Indians?

Some more thought on EDUCATION. This was originally written by me on my personal blog... but i think this will go very well in this arena too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "The fundamental issue that India has and not easily solvable is average IQ being low. India's average IQ is 81, while that of most progressed countries is above 97. China surprisingly has an average IQ of 100. India being a truely democratic country, the government is represented by majority, and majority has an IQ below 70 (IQ distribution is vast in India). Hence you get a government elected by morons, representing morons, and full of morons. And since these morons govern justice system, education system, healthcare, you name it, a person with an engineering degree, or a doctor, or a lawyer from India on average has an IQ of 81 as well. While the requirements of bec...
